About HipTrender
About
Radiographic monitoring of the hip is crucial for diagnosing and effectively treating developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) in children. Two key radiographic parameters for assessing acetabular structure are the acetabular index (AI) and the acetabular depth ratio (ADR). Standard reference curves for these indicators provide a consistent method for evaluating acetabular growth, regardless of age, and are vital in clinical practice.
HipTrender utilizes findings from Eduardo N. Novais et al.'s 2018 study, "Normal Percentile Reference Curves and Correlation of Acetabular Index and Acetabular Depth Ratio in Children," published in the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics to analyze AI and ADR trends over time to offer clinical recommendations for DDH treatment. Since AI measurement is not applicable beyond triradiate closure, the tool is designed for children up to 14 years old. Ultimately, professional clinical judgment should inform the management of DDH.
